Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan was a Pakistani nuclear scientist and metallurgical engineer, best known for his role in developing Pakistan's nuclear weapons program. Born on April 1, 1936, in Bhopal, India, he later moved to Pakistan after the partition in 1947. Khan earned his doctorate in engineering from the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and worked in various countries before returning to Pakistan in the 1970s.
In 1998, under his leadership, Pakistan conducted its first successful nuclear tests, making it the seventh nation in the world to possess nuclear weapons. Despite his contributions, Khan faced controversy and allegations of nuclear proliferation, leading to his house arrest in 2004. He passed away on October 10, 2021.
