Doll Festivals
Doll Festivals, known as Hinamatsuri in Japan, are celebrated on March 3rd each year. This festival is dedicated to the health and happiness of girls. Families display ornate Hina dolls on tiered platforms, representing the Emperor, Empress, and their court. Special foods, such as chirashi-zushi and shirozake, are prepared for the occasion.
During the festival, families pray for their daughters' well-being and future happiness. The dolls are often passed down through generations, symbolizing tradition and cultural heritage. In addition to Japan, similar celebrations can be found in other cultures, highlighting the universal theme of wishing for children's prosperity.
