Dja Wildlife Reserve
The Dja Wildlife Reserve is a protected area located in southeastern Cameroon. Covering approximately 5,260 square kilometers, it is one of the largest and most important rainforests in Africa. The reserve is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including endangered species such as the Western lowland gorilla and the African forest elephant.
Established in 1950, the Dja Wildlife Reserve was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 due to its rich biodiversity and ecological significance. The reserve plays a crucial role in conservation efforts and supports various indigenous communities that rely on its resources for their livelihoods.
