Western lowland gorilla
The Western lowland gorilla is a subspecies of the Western gorilla, primarily found in the rainforests of Central Africa. They are characterized by their smaller size compared to other gorilla subspecies, with adult males weighing between 300 to 400 pounds. Their fur is typically dark brown or black, and they have a distinctive nose shape.
These gorillas are social animals, living in groups called troops, which are led by a dominant male known as a silverback. They primarily feed on leaves, fruits, and stems, playing a crucial role in their ecosystem by helping to disperse seeds.
