Dissociation
Dissociation is a mental process where a person disconnects from their thoughts, feelings, or sense of identity. This can occur during stressful situations, allowing individuals to cope by detaching from reality. It is often experienced as a feeling of being outside oneself or having a distorted sense of time.
In some cases, dissociation can be a symptom of mental health conditions, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). While occasional dissociation is common, frequent episodes may require professional evaluation and support to address underlying issues and improve overall well-being.
