Digital Research, Inc.
Digital Research, Inc. was a pioneering software company founded in 1976 by Gary Kildall. The company is best known for developing the CP/M operating system, which was widely used in the late 1970s and early 1980s for personal computers. CP/M played a significant role in the early days of computing, providing a platform for various applications and influencing later operating systems.
In 1980, Digital Research, Inc. faced competition from Microsoft, which was developing its own operating system, MS-DOS. Despite its early success, the company struggled to maintain its market position and eventually lost prominence in the rapidly evolving tech landscape. Digital Research, Inc. was acquired by Novell in 1991.
