Diaoyu Islands
The Diaoyu Islands, also known as the Senkaku Islands in Japan, are a group of uninhabited islands located in the East China Sea. They are situated northeast of Taiwan and southwest of Okinawa, covering an area of about 7 square kilometers. The islands are known for their rich fishing grounds and potential underwater resources.
The ownership of the Diaoyu Islands is disputed primarily between China and Japan. Both countries claim historical rights to the islands, leading to ongoing tensions in the region. The islands are currently administered by Japan, but China continues to assert its claims, resulting in diplomatic conflicts.
