Destour
The Destour was a political party in Tunisia founded in 1920. It aimed to promote national independence and social reform, advocating for the rights of Tunisians under French colonial rule. The party played a significant role in the struggle for independence, leading to the eventual establishment of a sovereign state in 1956.
After independence, the Destour evolved into the ruling party, shaping Tunisia's political landscape. In 1987, it was restructured and renamed the Democratic Constitutional Rally (RCD). The party maintained a dominant position in Tunisian politics until the 2011 revolution, which led to its dissolution and the emergence of new political movements.
