Democracy Wall
The "Democracy Wall" refers to a location in Beijing, China where citizens expressed their political views and demands during the late 1970s. It became a symbol of free speech and political activism, particularly after the end of the Cultural Revolution. People posted posters and writings on the wall, advocating for democracy and reform.
The wall was located near Tiananmen Square and attracted many intellectuals and students. However, the government eventually removed the wall in 1989, following the Tiananmen Square protests. Despite its removal, the Democracy Wall remains a significant historical reference for discussions about freedom of expression in China.
