Decommunization
Decommunization refers to the process of removing the influence of communism from a society, particularly in countries that were formerly part of the Soviet Union or had communist governments. This often involves dismantling symbols, monuments, and institutions associated with communist ideology, as well as revising laws and educational materials to reflect democratic values.
The goal of decommunization is to promote a more democratic and pluralistic society by addressing the legacy of totalitarianism and human rights abuses that occurred under communist regimes. It can also include efforts to foster national identity and historical memory that align with democratic principles.
