Deadvlei
Deadvlei is a striking white clay pan located in the Namib-Naukluft National Park of Namibia. It is famous for its surreal landscape, featuring ancient, dead camel thorn trees that contrast sharply with the surrounding orange sand dunes, particularly the iconic Dune 45. The area was formed when the Tsauchab River flooded, creating a lush environment, but climate changes led to its current arid state.
The trees in Deadvlei are estimated to be around 900 years old and have not decomposed due to the extreme dryness. This unique environment attracts photographers and nature enthusiasts, offering a stunning backdrop for capturing the beauty of the Namib Desert.
