Daw Aung San Suu Kyi
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is a prominent political leader and human rights advocate from Myanmar. Born on June 19, 1945, she is the daughter of Aung San, a national hero who played a key role in Myanmar's independence. Suu Kyi became internationally known for her nonviolent struggle for democracy and human rights, spending many years under house arrest due to her opposition to the military regime.
In 2015, her party, the National League for Democracy (NLD), won a historic election, leading to her appointment as State Counsellor, a position akin to a prime minister. However, her leadership faced criticism, particularly regarding her handling of the Rohingya crisis, which raised concerns about human rights violations in the country.
