Date Masamune
Date Masamune was a prominent Japanese daimyo during the late 16th and early 17th centuries. He was the founder of the Date clan and ruled the Mutsu Province in northern Japan. Known for his military prowess and strategic acumen, Masamune played a significant role in the unification of Japan during the Sengoku period.
Masamune is often recognized for his distinctive appearance, characterized by his missing right eye, which earned him the nickname "One-Eyed Dragon." He was also a patron of the arts and culture, promoting the development of Sendai, the city he established as his domain's capital.
