Dashain
Dashain is a major Hindu festival celebrated in Nepal and among Nepali communities worldwide. It usually lasts for 15 days and marks the victory of the goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura. Families come together to worship, receive blessings, and celebrate with feasts.
During Dashain, people often receive blessings from elders, who place a mixture of rice, yogurt, and vermilion on their foreheads. The festival also involves the sacrifice of animals, such as goats and chickens, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. It is a time for reunion, joy, and cultural traditions.
