Damodar
The Damodar River is a significant waterway in eastern India, flowing through the states of Jharkhand and West Bengal. It is approximately 592 kilometers long and is known for its rich coal deposits in the surrounding region. The river is an important source of water for irrigation and supports local agriculture.
The Damodar River is also famous for its historical significance and cultural importance. It is often referred to as the "Sorrow of Bengal" due to its tendency to flood during the monsoon season. To manage these floods, several dams and reservoirs, including the Damodar Valley Corporation, have been constructed along the river.
