Dahongshan Mine disaster
The Dahongshan Mine disaster occurred on March 28, 2008, in the Dahongshan Mine, located in Yunnan Province, China. A sudden rock burst led to the collapse of a section of the mine, trapping several miners underground. Rescue operations were initiated immediately, but the challenging conditions hampered efforts.
In total, 23 miners were trapped, and after extensive rescue attempts, only 10 were successfully saved. The incident raised concerns about mine safety regulations in China, prompting investigations into the practices of mining companies and the enforcement of safety measures to prevent future disasters.
