DBT
DBT, or Dialectical Behavior Therapy, is a type of psychotherapy designed to help individuals manage intense emotions and improve interpersonal relationships. It combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices, focusing on teaching skills in four key areas: emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness.
Originally developed by Marsha Linehan for treating borderline personality disorder, DBT has since been adapted for various mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. The therapy typically involves individual therapy sessions, group skills training, and phone coaching to support clients in applying skills in real-life situations.
