Cyanosis
Cyanosis is a medical condition characterized by a bluish discoloration of the skin and mucous membranes. This occurs when there is insufficient oxygen in the blood, leading to a lack of oxygenated hemoglobin. Cyanosis can be observed in various parts of the body, particularly in the lips, fingertips, and toes.
There are two main types of cyanosis: central and peripheral. Central cyanosis affects the core of the body and is often associated with respiratory or cardiac issues, while peripheral cyanosis typically occurs in the extremities and may result from poor circulation or exposure to cold temperatures.
