Curricular Practical Training
Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is a type of work authorization for international students in the United States on F-1 visas. It allows students to gain practical experience in their field of study while still enrolled in their academic program. CPT can be part-time or full-time and must be directly related to the student’s major.
To qualify for CPT, students must have completed at least one academic year and must receive approval from their school’s Designated School Official (DSO). The training can take place during the academic year or during summer breaks, and it must be an integral part of the student’s curriculum.
