Curlew Sandpiper
The Curlew Sandpiper is a medium-sized shorebird known for its long, curved bill and slender body. It typically measures about 25 to 30 centimeters in length and has a wingspan of around 60 centimeters. During the breeding season, its plumage is striking, featuring a reddish-brown color with white underparts, while in winter, it adopts a more muted gray-brown appearance.
This bird primarily inhabits coastal wetlands and mudflats, where it feeds on small invertebrates like worms and crustaceans. The Curlew Sandpiper migrates long distances between its breeding grounds in the Arctic and wintering areas in Africa and southern Asia, making it an important species for studying migratory patterns in birds.
