The Sanderling is a small shorebird belonging to the family Scolopacidae. It is commonly found along sandy beaches and coastal areas, where it forages for food. Sanderlings are known for their distinctive behavior of running back and forth with the waves, searching for small invertebrates and crustaceans.
These birds have a short, stout body, a straight bill, and long legs. In breeding plumage, they display a reddish-brown coloration, while in winter, they appear mostly gray and white. Sanderlings are migratory, traveling long distances between their breeding grounds in the Arctic and wintering sites along the coasts of North America and Europe.
