Cruzada Libertadora
The Cruzada Libertadora was a military campaign launched in 1815 by the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata, aimed at liberating the territories of Upper Peru, now known as Bolivia. Led by General Manuel Belgrano, the campaign sought to expand the influence of the revolutionary government and support local independence movements against Spanish colonial rule.
Despite initial successes, the campaign faced significant challenges, including logistical issues and strong resistance from royalist forces. Ultimately, the Cruzada Libertadora ended in defeat, but it played a crucial role in the broader struggle for independence in South America, influencing future military efforts in the region.
