Cross-Country races
Cross-country races are long-distance running events that take place over natural terrains, such as fields, forests, and hills. Participants navigate through various surfaces, including grass, dirt, and mud, which adds to the challenge. These races can vary in distance, typically ranging from 3 kilometers for younger athletes to 10 kilometers for adults.
Competitions are often held in teams, with runners scoring points based on their finishing positions. The team with the lowest total score wins. Cross-country races are popular at both the high school and collegiate levels, with events organized by organizations like the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and USA Track & Field.
