Cretan goat
The Cretan goat, also known as the Kri-Kri or Cretan wild goat, is a subspecies of the wild goat native to the island of Crete in Greece. It is characterized by its long, curved horns and a robust body, typically covered in a mix of brown and gray fur. These goats are well-adapted to the rugged terrain of Crete, often found in mountainous areas and steep cliffs.
Cretan goats are primarily herbivorous, feeding on grasses, shrubs, and other vegetation. They play a crucial role in the local ecosystem by helping to maintain the balance of plant life. Due to habitat loss and hunting, the Cretan goat is considered a vulnerable species, with conservation efforts in place to protect its population.
