Craters Theophilus
Craters Theophilus is a prominent lunar impact crater located on the Moon's surface. It is situated in the eastern part of the Mare Nectaris and has a diameter of about 100 kilometers. Theophilus is known for its well-preserved features, including steep walls and a central peak, which formed as a result of the impact that created the crater.
Theophilus is named after the ancient Greek philosopher Theophilus of Antioch. The crater is surrounded by several smaller craters, including Craters Cyrillus and Craters Catharina, which contribute to the region's geological diversity. Observations of Theophilus provide valuable insights into the Moon's history and impact processes.
