Crab Traps
Crab traps are devices used to catch crabs in various bodies of water. They are typically made of wire mesh and come in different shapes and sizes, such as rectangular or circular. The traps are designed to allow crabs to enter but make it difficult for them to escape. Bait, often consisting of fish or other seafood, is placed inside the trap to attract crabs.
These traps are commonly used by both commercial and recreational fishers. When placed on the ocean floor or in estuaries, they can be left for several hours or days. After this time, fishers return to collect the traps and harvest the crabs inside.
