Corneal Infections
Corneal infections, also known as keratitis, occur when the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye, becomes inflamed due to bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. Symptoms may include redness, pain, blurred vision, and sensitivity to light. These infections can result from contact lens misuse, eye injuries, or pre-existing conditions.
Treatment typically involves antibiotic or antifungal eye drops, depending on the infection's cause. In severe cases, oral medications or surgery may be necessary. Prompt medical attention is crucial to prevent complications, such as vision loss or scarring of the cornea.
