It was created in 2004 and is responsible for reviewing the constitutionality of laws, regulations, and treaties. The court plays a crucial role in protecting individual rights and maintaining the rule of law in Japan.
The court consists of 15 judges, who are appointed by the Prime Minister of Japan and confirmed by the National Diet. It operates independently and has the authority to declare laws unconstitutional, thereby safeguarding the principles outlined in the constitution.
