Constituent Assembly of India
The Constituent Assembly of India was formed in 1946 to draft the Constitution of India. It consisted of elected representatives from various provinces and princely states, aiming to create a framework for governance after India gained independence from British rule. The assembly held its first meeting on December 9, 1946, and worked diligently to address the needs and aspirations of the diverse Indian population.
The assembly was chaired by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, who later became the first President of India. After extensive discussions and debates, the Constitution was adopted on January 26, 1950, marking the establishment of India as a sovereign democratic republic.
