Constans II
Constans II was a Byzantine Emperor who ruled from 641 to 668 AD. He was the son of Constantine III and became emperor at a young age after the death of his father. His reign was marked by military conflicts, particularly against the Sassanian Empire and the rising threat of Islamic expansion.
During his rule, Constans II moved the imperial capital from Constantinople to Syracuse in Sicily, aiming to strengthen the western provinces. He is also known for his attempts to reform the administration and for his controversial religious policies, including the promotion of Monotheletism, which sought to unify different Christian factions.
