Conan IV, Duke of Brittany
Conan IV, Duke of Brittany was a nobleman who ruled from 1171 until his death in 1201. He was the son of Conan III and Margaret of Scotland. His reign was marked by conflicts with the French crown and struggles for control over Brittany, a region in northwestern France.
During his rule, Conan IV sought to strengthen his authority and maintain the independence of Brittany. He faced challenges from rival factions and external pressures, particularly from King Philip II of France. Despite these difficulties, he is remembered for his efforts to uphold the rights and privileges of his duchy.
