Commonwealth realms
Commonwealth realms are countries that recognize the British monarch as their head of state. These nations are part of the Commonwealth of Nations, a political association of 54 member states, most of which were former territories of the British Empire. Each realm operates as an independent nation, with its own government and laws.
As of now, there are 15 Commonwealth realms, including Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. While they share a historical connection to the United Kingdom, each realm has its own unique culture and political system. The monarch's role is largely ceremonial, with day-to-day governance handled by local leaders.
