Common Frog
The Common Frog (Rana temporaria) is a widespread amphibian found across Europe and parts of Asia. It typically has a smooth, green or brown skin with dark spots, allowing it to blend into its environment. Common Frogs are usually found in gardens, woodlands, and near ponds, where they breed in shallow water during spring.
These frogs are known for their distinctive croaking sounds, especially during the mating season. They primarily feed on insects and other small invertebrates. The Common Frog plays an important role in the ecosystem by helping control insect populations and serving as prey for various predators, including birds and snakes.
