The colugo, also known as the flying lemur, is a unique mammal found in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. Despite its name, it is not a lemur but belongs to its own order called Dermoptera. Colugos are known for their remarkable gliding ability, which they achieve using a large membrane of skin that stretches from their neck to the tips of their limbs and tail.
Colugos are primarily nocturnal and feed on leaves, fruits, and flowers. They have large eyes adapted for night vision and a flat body that helps them glide between trees. Their ability to glide can reach distances of up to 150 meters, making them one of the best gliders in the animal kingdom.
