Colossi of Memnon
The Colossi of Memnon are two massive stone statues located in Luxor, Egypt. They were built during the reign of Pharaoh Amenhotep III around 1400 BCE and stand about 18 meters tall. The statues depict the pharaoh seated, flanked by smaller figures representing his family.
Originally, the Colossi were part of a larger mortuary temple, which has since mostly eroded away. Over the centuries, they have become famous for their acoustic phenomenon, where one statue would produce sounds at dawn, leading to the legend of the "singing" statues.
