Color blindness
Color blindness is a visual impairment that affects a person's ability to perceive colors accurately. The most common type is red-green color blindness, where individuals struggle to distinguish between red and green hues. This condition occurs due to the absence or malfunction of certain color-sensitive cells in the retina.
Color blindness is usually inherited and affects approximately 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women. It can also result from eye diseases, certain medications, or aging. While there is no cure, many people adapt by using tools and strategies to help them navigate a world rich in color.
