Cocos Islands
The Cocos Islands, also known as Cocos (Keeling) Islands, are a group of small islands located in the Indian Ocean, about halfway between Australia and Sri Lanka. They are a territory of Australia and consist of 27 coral islands, with only two of them being inhabited. The islands are known for their beautiful beaches, clear waters, and rich marine life, making them a popular destination for eco-tourism and water sports.
The total land area of the Cocos Islands is approximately 14 square kilometers. The main island, West Island, serves as the administrative center, while Home Island is primarily inhabited by the local Cocos Malay community. The islands have a tropical climate, with warm temperatures year-round and a wet season from November to March.
