Co-Regent
A Co-Regent is a person who shares the responsibilities and powers of ruling with another leader, often in a monarchy. This arrangement can occur when a monarch is too young, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to fulfill their duties. Co-regents work together to ensure the continuity of governance and may have equal authority or one may serve in a more supportive role.
Historically, co-regency has been seen in various cultures, including ancient Egypt, where pharaohs like Hatshepsut ruled alongside their co-regents. This practice allows for a smoother transition of power and can help maintain stability within a kingdom during times of change.
