Cleveland Abductions
The Cleveland Abductions refer to the kidnapping and imprisonment of three women—Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus—by Ariel Castro in Cleveland, Ohio. The women were held captive in Castro's home from 2002 to 2013, enduring physical and emotional abuse during their captivity.
The case gained national attention when Amanda Berry escaped in May 2013 and alerted authorities, leading to the rescue of the other two women. Castro was arrested and later sentenced to life in prison without parole, while the survivors have since worked to rebuild their lives and advocate for other victims of abduction.
