Clark's Grebe
Clark's Grebe is a medium-sized waterbird found primarily in western North America. It has a distinctive black cap on its head, a long neck, and a slender body. During the breeding season, its plumage features striking black and white patterns, while in winter, it adopts a more muted coloration.
These grebes are often seen in freshwater lakes and marshes, where they dive underwater to catch fish and invertebrates. They are known for their elaborate courtship displays, which include synchronized swimming and intricate movements. Grebes are excellent swimmers and can stay submerged for long periods while hunting.
