Citrus Canker
Citrus Canker is a bacterial disease that affects citrus plants, including oranges, lemons, and limes. It is caused by the bacterium Xanthomonas citri and leads to the formation of lesions on leaves, stems, and fruit. These lesions can cause premature leaf drop and fruit drop, significantly impacting crop yield and quality.
The disease spreads through wind, rain, and contaminated tools or equipment. Infected plants can be identified by their yellowing leaves and the presence of raised, corky spots. Effective management includes removing infected plants, using resistant varieties, and practicing good sanitation to prevent the spread of the bacteria.
