Circassia
Circassia is a historical region located in the northwest Caucasus, bordered by the Black Sea to the west and the Caucasus Mountains to the east. It was home to the Circassian people, known for their rich culture and traditions. The region was divided into several principalities before being annexed by the Russian Empire in the 19th century.
The annexation led to significant conflict and the forced migration of many Circassians, resulting in a large diaspora. Today, Circassia is part of modern-day Russia, encompassing the republics of Adygea, Karachay-Cherkessia, and Kabardino-Balkaria. The Circassian culture continues to thrive among communities worldwide.
