The "Churning of the Ocean," also known as Samudra Manthan, is a significant event in Hindu mythology. It describes the process where the gods (Devas) and demons (Asuras) collaborated to churn the cosmic ocean, Kshira Sagara, to obtain the nectar of immortality, amrita. They used the mountain Mandara as a churning rod and the serpent Vasuki as a rope. During this event, various treasures and divine beings emerged from the ocean, including the moon, Lakshmi (the goddess of wealth), and Kalpavriksha (the wish-fulfilling tree).
