Church of Bones
The Church of Bones, also known as the Sedlec Ossuary, is a small chapel located in the suburb of Sedlec in Kutná Hora, Czech Republic. It is famous for its unique interior, which is decorated with human bones. The ossuary contains the remains of an estimated 40,000 to 70,000 people, artistically arranged to create various decorations, including chandeliers and a large bone chandelier.
The church was established in the 14th century, following the Black Death and the Hussite Wars, which led to a significant increase in the number of burials. The bones were later arranged in the 19th century by a local woodcarver named František Rint, who created the striking bone decorations that attract visitors from around the world.
