Chukchi-Koryak
The Chukchi-Koryak language group consists of two closely related languages: Chukchi and Koryak. These languages are primarily spoken in the northeastern region of Siberia, Russia, particularly in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug and parts of the Kamchatka Peninsula. They belong to the Chukchi-Kamchatkan language family and are known for their complex grammatical structures.
The speakers of Chukchi-Koryak are primarily indigenous peoples, including the Chukchi and Koryak communities. These languages are vital for preserving the cultural heritage and traditions of these groups. However, both languages face challenges due to declining numbers of speakers and the influence of the dominant Russian language.
