Christmas in Honduras
Christmas in Honduras is celebrated with vibrant traditions and family gatherings. The festivities typically begin on December 16 with the Posadas, a nine-day event that reenacts Mary and Joseph's search for shelter. Families decorate their homes with lights, ornaments, and a Nativity scene, emphasizing the religious significance of the holiday.
On Christmas Eve, known as Nochebuena, families come together for a festive dinner featuring traditional dishes like tamales and pavo (turkey). At midnight, many attend a Misa de Gallo, or Rooster's Mass, to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Fireworks and music fill the air, creating a joyful atmosphere.
