Christian Gobrecht
Christian Gobrecht was an American engraver and coin designer born on December 23, 1785, in Pennsylvania. He is best known for his work with the United States Mint, where he served as the Chief Engraver from 1840 until his death in 1844. Gobrecht created several notable coin designs, including the famous Seated Liberty series.
