George T. Morgan
George T. Morgan was an American engraver and coin designer, best known for creating the Morgan dollar, a silver coin that was minted from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921. Born on May 24, 1845, in Birmingham, England, he immigrated to the United States in 1851. Morgan's work is celebrated for its artistic quality and historical significance.
Morgan studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and later worked for the United States Mint. His designs often featured allegorical figures and were influenced by classical art. The Morgan dollar remains a popular collectible among numismatists and is recognized for its iconic depiction of Liberty.
