Choloepus
Choloepus is a genus of sloths found in Central and South America. These animals are known as two-toed sloths, distinguished by their two claws on each front limb. They are primarily arboreal, spending most of their lives in trees, where they feed on leaves, fruits, and flowers.
There are two species within the Choloepus genus: the Choloepus didactylus, or the Linnaeus's two-toed sloth, and the Choloepus hoffmanni, known as Hoffmann's two-toed sloth. These sloths are characterized by their slow movement and unique adaptations for a life in the canopy, including a low metabolic rate and a specialized digestive system.
