Choi Hong Hi
Choi Hong Hi was a prominent South Korean martial artist and the founder of Taekwondo, a popular form of martial arts known for its high, fast kicks and jumping techniques. Born on November 9, 1918, he played a significant role in the development and promotion of Taekwondo, both in South Korea and internationally.
Choi served in the South Korean military, where he further refined his martial arts skills and began teaching. He established the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) in 1966, which helped spread Taekwondo worldwide. Choi passed away on June 15, 2002, leaving a lasting legacy in the martial arts community.
